Jekyll & Hyde The Musical - Extra Credit Opportunity

In order for students to receive Extra Credit for #5, they must follow the steps listed below.

1. Identify 10 differences between Jekyll & Hyde the Book and The Musical
2. E-mail the list of 10 differences to your Focus Teacher's School E-mail address
3. Place your Full Name and Focus Period in the Subject Line
4. Send your E-mail before 8am on 11/20/2008

11/12 & 11/13

Today students will be attending the Reynolds High School Musical Performance of "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde." Students in morning Focus periods (1, 2, and 4) will attend Wed. morning from 9-11:30am, and afternoon studetns (5, 6 and 7) will attend Thurs. afternoon from 12-2:30pm.

11/7 & 11/10

Today students will begin reading the next chapter in Dr. Jeklyy & Mr. Hyde. As they read, students should record and define vocabulary that is unfamiliar to them. At the end of each chapter, students will complete a Chapter Summary Assignment to restate the importance of the chapters plot points and character interactions.
(Hood House will complete Chapters 6-8 and turn in by the end of the Period)

11/5 & 11/6

Monday, November 3, 2008

11/3 & 11/4

Students will return to reading Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde today. Students will review the chapters we read prior to the Explore Test throught the use of 2 activities. First, students will create a Character Graphic Organizer to display who each main character is and how they are connected to each other in the story. Finally, students will work as a group to place the main events in proper sequence for each chapter that we have covered thus far.

10/30 & 10/31

Today students will have the Activities Director at RHS visiting class to introduce the students to "The Extra Mile" organization. Students will learn about the value and benefit of volunteering their time in the community and how they can be recognized and rewarded through "The Extra Mile" organization.

Students will also be finishing any sections of the Expolre test during the LAST make up day.

Today the students in Focus class will be watching a video titled: "Teen Files - Surviving High School." Students that have not completed all sections of the Explore Test will be attending the Explore Make up session during the video.

Students will taking the EXPLORE TEST today. Each student will complete 4 Academic and several survey sections over the next 3 class periods. Each academic section is timed at 30 minutes per section. The survey sections will be used to gather data about interests and careers.

ACTIVITIES FAIR - EXTRA CREDIT OPPORTUNITY

Students that attend Parent Teacher Conference will have an opportunity to complete Extra Credit #4. Posted below are the guidelines for Extra Credit #4.

1. Browse the Activities Fair Tables During Conferences
2. Choose (5) Clubs to gather the following information about and record on paper
  • Club Name
  • Club Advisor
  • Purpose of the Club
  • What type of RHS student can/should join this club?
  • What is the cost, if any, to join the club?
  • When does the club meet or participate in events?
3. Extra Credit #4 is due Mon 10/27/08 (B-Day) and 10/28/08 (A Day)
