1/6 & 1/7

Welcome back and Happy New Year. We are finally back to a normal "A/B Day" rotation. We are taking on many different activities over the next 3 weeks in Focus Class. Each House will be on a slightly different schedule, so I will do my best to keep you informed.

Hood & Jefferson: Students will be completing the State or Oregon Reading Test. The new graduation requirements for the Class of 2012 require a minimum score of 236 on the Reading Test. This is NOT a timed test so students are encouraged to take their time and answer each question. Students will be taking this test on-line and will receive their score as soon as they complete the test. If they fall below 236, they will have an opportunity to retake this test several time throughout their 4 years at RHS.

Helens & Adams: Students will begin the book, Teenagers Preparing for the Real World. This book is used as an introduction to the Career Pathway & College Exploration Unit.

Extra Credit #6

Extra Credit Opportunity - Season of Giving Challenge

Each year Reynolds High School gives back to those in need during the holiday season. Students and staff are asked to make donations in any of the following ways:

Hygiene Items
Nonperishable Food Items
New or gently used Toys
New or gently used Clothing
New Socks
Giving Tree Star

Each year in Focus Class we offer a challenge to our students to see which "House" can bring the most items in for donation. Each Focus teacher will provide Extra Credit as means to motivate and reward our students for their thoughtful donations. Students are asked to give their donations directly to their Focus teacher instead of to the RHS Giving collection area. Each item will be counted individually and a total tally will be kept for each House. On Wednesday next week, we will recognize the winning house and transfer the Focus donations to the RHS Season of Giving collection area.
